Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond MSP, pictured with pro-independence supporters outside the Burgh Hall in his home town of Linlithgow, West Lothian. Salmond's visit was staged as part of the Yes Scotland campaign in the lead up to the referendum to decide whether the country should remain as part of the United Kingdom. On the 18th of September 2014, the people of Scotland voted in a referendum to decide whether the country's union with England should continue or Scotland should become an independent nation once again.
