A box of aruanã, a fish which eats flies and insects by jumping up to one metre out of the river waters, for sale at Manaus fish market having been caught in the Amazon and Rio Negro rivers. 2005 saw the worst drought in the region for 60 years which affected fish sizes and catches. Declining catches were also blamed on the loss of river habitats due to deforestation of the Amazonian rainforest.
