British author and museum curator Paul Roberts, pictured at the Edinburgh International Book Festival where he talked about his work on the  eruption of Vesuvius and the destruction of Pompeii. The three-week event is the world's biggest literary festival and is held during the annual Edinburgh Festival. The 2013 event featured talks and presentations by more than 500 authors from around the world and was the 30th edition of the festival.
