Spartans (white) take on Edinburgh City in a East of Scotland League Cup tie at City Park, Edinburgh. Spartans, perennial Scottish Cup giantkillers, are due to relocate to a new purpose-built stadium in 2007 bringing to an end football at the north Edinburgh ground which was built, ironically, by Edinburgh City, who now play at the Commonwealth Stadium, the former home of Meadowbank Thistle. City were members of the Scottish League in the 1930s. Spartans won this group match 2-0.
